Kim Kardashian’s Sex Tape Grosses $100 Million after Ten Years

What sells? Sex sells! As they say and this can be no more evident than with the recent revelations that Kim Kardashian’s famous sex tape with Ray J, which was released in 2007, has netted $100 million since it’s release a decade ago.

Not bad, for such a low-budget film, don’t you think? This might have any half-celebrity even picking up their camera right now and shooting any lovemaking, so as to make a fair mint from it, in the near future, perhaps?

According to TMZ, the ‘Kim Kardashian Superstar featuring Hip-Hop star Ray-J’ tape has now received 210 million views online, on DVD and on VividTV. The site reports, “It is viewed by someone on an average of every 1.5 seconds, with a significant increase in numbers when Kim married Kris Humphries, announced her divorce and with the release of the Paper magazine cover.”

Reportedly, when the news first broke of her sex tape being released, Kim Kardashian was with Paris Hilton in Australia, and the tape which was filmed on a vacation in Mexico with Ray-J, to celebrate her 23rd birthday in 2003, had started to be shopped around four years later, until a deal was struck in 2007.

Kevin Dickson, a former editor at In Touch Weekly, told PageSix.com that Kim constantly tried to get herself into the gossip and tabloid magazines by feeding a string of salacious stories throughout that time.

Kim “no doubt” wanted fame so badly, that when the sex tape was first released, after she initially made a cameo appearance on Paris Hilton’s ‘The Simple Life’ reality show, was when she was able to convince magazine editors to finally write about her.

Kim’s attorney, Marty Singer, told PageSix.com that Kim never planted stories about herself or tried to tip-off paparazzi about her whereabouts, or even that she ever lied about the existence of the sex tape.

When Kevin Dickson managed to reach Kim, when the sex tape had already been leaked online, he tracked her down after speaking with Paris, and he overheard Kim saying, “It’s not me, it’s not me.’’

According to Kevin, Kim denied it was her and she was crying. However, eventually Kim settled for a bumper deal with Vivid (the famous porn production company) with Steven Hirsch at the helm, in February of 2007, with Hirsch saying, “Ultimately she did sell us the footage so we had the ability to put it out and distribute it” told PageSix.com.

Reportedly, Kim Kardashian was paid $5 million for the deal, but Marty Singer insists that this price was “greatly inflated”.

After the talk of big money came into the picture, Kevin Dickson told PageSix.com: “Then she calmed down. When [Vivid] talked money with her, she started talking [to me] more frequently again.”

The film was later released by Vivid on March 21st, 2007, making it into probably the most famous celebrity sex tape of all time, after Pamela Anderson’s memorable boat antics with drummer Tommy Lee from Motley Crue, respectively.

After the sex tape, Kim Kardashian landed her own reality show, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and the rest is history, as they say.

Vivid has also just recently named ‘March 2017’, as ‘Kim K. Sex Tape Month’. What an honor to bestow on someone and it’s quite an achievement and now we are reminded of how it all began, ten years ago.

Seemingly, Paris Hilton’s sex tape with ‘One Night in Paris’ and her path onto reality television, sounds all too familiar by now and shortly after Kim’s sex tape became popular, Paris’s TV show ‘The Simple Life’ ended and so did their friendship. Coincidence? We think not. But, who’s next on the celebrity sex tape circuit, to cash in on some hanky-panky?
