Jim Carrey Trips on Mushrooms in Preparation for Role as Terence McKenna

Many people may have been asking where actor Jim Carrey has been recently. Seemingly, he has been a bit neglected by Hollywood of late or he’s just taken some time off after some bad films, and generally, we miss seeing him in some good quality movies.

In searching for the some of the most interesting and underreported news, we came across this gem of a story about how Jim Carrey is preparing for his next role in a film called ‘True Hallucinations’ about Terence McKenna, by retreating into nature and by taking dried magic mushrooms to play the role of Terence McKenna himself, the hippy-chemist-author-mystic-philosopher-psychonaut-ethnobotanist and the responsible user of psychedelic plants in human mind research, who passed away on April 3rd in the year of 2000. Let’s now marvel in one of Terence McKenna’s wonderful quotes about Psilocybin, shall we?

Is this purely a rumor, or will this film ever go ahead? We decided to write about it, as it seems like a great idea for a movie and at this time, it looks like a story such at this, might lead to the demand of such a film, being produced in the near future.

One thing is clear is that Jim Carrey has flung himself into research for the role by taking psychedelic drugs such as magic mushrooms in order to prepare for it. If it ever gets the go-ahead, of course. So, truly life changing trip experiences aplenty for Jim Carrey, who’s definitely the ideal candidate to bring Terence McKenna to life on the silver screen.

Many wonder whether this film is still just a rumor and if a film of such a nature would ever go into production in the first place? Is there enough public interest in such a script and film about the psychonaut researcher for it to ever be produced into a film? We did find this film poster, which suggests that it may be going ahead, if there’s enough public interest for it.

This may be what this re-emergence of this story is all about, and we would definitely watch a film starring Jim Carrey as Terence McKenna, so we welcome such news of a film being put into production, very much.

When asked about the project or more so, when asked about psychedelics, Jim Carrey said, “The real message of psychedelics, I think, is to reclaim experience and to trust yourself. Your perceptions are primary. Your feelings are correct. Everything must constellate out and make sense and parse with what you know. If you don’t start from that assumption then you are off-center to begin with. And the psychedelics will dissolve the cultural programming that has potentially made you a mark and restore your authenticity.”

Yes, Magic Mushrooms have been known to create a sort of relief and feeling of resetting one’s mind from all the inherent junk and blockages within it, and in the face of modern-day society, with many scientists standing firmly behind psilocybin’s ability to cure severe depression, anxiety, fears and other psychological hang ups, such as a fear of death in cancer patients, you would think that the government would regulate these drugs instead of making them illegal. All of this and more has been well documented over the years.

The natural benefits of psilocybin have become a bit taboo and whilst doing it all wrong, can have horrific effects. In doing it right however, it can have many benefits for the person that’s testing it out, responsibly. The mystical powers of magic mushrooms have been explored by ancient civilizations for millennia and is well documented throughout history. From the Vikings, the Aztecs, to shamanism in the Amazon rainforests of old, and even in modern-day tribes that still use it for ceremony in connecting with spirituality and to the gods that are out in the Universe or even within the minds of mankind itself. Of course, all of that seems a million miles away from everyday life and that’s perhaps why it’s listed as an illegal substance in most places across the world.

Some other psychonauts or alternative researchers (sceptics need not apply) also believe that the spores of magic mushrooms may have ended up on earth through space travel. Fungi spores travel by air, you know? Thus, potentially even spawning life on earth as we know it, or even lighting the spark for ancient man to encompass the enlightened human consciousness throughout the ages, with some even suggesting that’s how we evolved from apes into highly intelligent beings. It may have been how we discovered self-awareness and even how we finally left our monkey minds behind.

But, you won’t hear THAT in textbooks from the 1970’s, or in any scientific material, or even in any official accounts of mankind’s evolution into highly intelligent beings from Neanderthal apes. We often wonder who was the first to pluck the magic shrooms from the cow’s excrement in search of food? Probably a bunch of apes, you’d think?

Magic Mushrooms can truly be a mind opening experience and Terence McKenna did his fair share of them, to induce his many writings in so-called pseudoscience. Jim Carrey has seemingly done the same and we definitely hope to hear more about this proposed film and if it will ever see the light of day.

An experimental documentary has been made about Terence McKenna called “True Hallucinations”.  From what we can gather, we suppose it’s a type of pilot or promotion piece, created and produced by Peter Bergmann for those who are hopeful for a feature film based on McKenna starring Jim Carrey, to come to reality. You can watch it in full, down below.

So far, no official word on whether the film with Jim Carrey will go ahead, but we can wish and we can hope, can’t we? Jim Carrey is truly an amazing actor, and Terence McKenna is truly a captivating figure of modern times, with his views on much of the greatly unexplored topic of psychedelics and its apparent connection to the soul and even the universe.

We give our vote of approval for such a feature film to come to fruition, but now everyone, do get back to your 9 to 5 jobs and forget that we even said what we have said. Some of us have seen the inter-dimensional nexus and just wow, our minds have been blown, at times! The Nexus is very real, but all you young kids and even you adults out there, do not try this at home!

Brainstain, over and out!

Yes, I’ve been reading that this film is a rumor. I don’t know if it’s true or not. But Jim Carrey would be great at it.
