The 2018 Oscar Nominations List

Yesterday, we caught the live screening of the 2018 Oscar Nominations by Andy Serkis and Tiffany Haddish, in all of its cringeworthy splendour, setting the tone perhaps for when Jimmy Kimmel steps back into the spotlight as host on March 4th. After the infamous “EnvelopeGate” incident last year, when the Best Picture Award was given to ‘La La Land’ as opposed to ‘Moonlight’, the Oscars have developed a new set of rules to prevent another mix up like that from happening again on the 90th Oscars Event.

Hollywood has of course, been going through a bit of a tough time lately with their usual establishment Donald Trump bashing (censoring of conservative views) and virtue signalling about Muslim migrants in Europe, not to mention, they have no doubt been suffering from the many sexual harassment stories creeping up from underneath the red carpet, with sex scandals, and other such allegations, which ultimately has seen the popularity and interest in Tinseltown become a little tarnished. But, the show must go on, and so let’s focus on the films.

Here are the nominations for this years Oscars, which screens on March 4th, 2018:

So there you have them! There was a few surprises here. Angelina Jolie’s film ‘First They Killed My Father’ wasn’t nominated in the Best Foreign Film category, James Franco wasn’t nominated for Best Actor for ‘The Disaster Artist’, Tom Hanks wasn’t nominated for ‘The Post’, nor was Steven Spielberg for Best Director, but they both probably have enough Oscars between them already. Ridley Scott also wasn’t given an Oscar nomination for Best Director for ‘All the Money in the World’. However, ‘The Shape of Water’ got eight nominations and ‘Get Out’ got three nominations. Gary Oldman is heavily predicted to pick up the ‘Best Actor’ award for ‘Darkest Hour’, after getting the SGA Award and Golden Globe for the same category, but he might be facing heavy competition from Daniel Day-Lewis for ‘Phantom Thread’, which is said to be his last ever film as an actor. Additionally, Christopher Plummer looks a firm favourite for ‘Best Supporting Actor’ for ‘All the Money in the World’.

Who will win the awards? You’ll have to tune into the Oscars 2018 on March 4th in order to find out. That being said, who do you predict to win the statues this year? Tell us in the comments section down below.
