The Met Gala 2018 Outfits in Pictures

The Met Gala 2018 took place yesterday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, and once again celebrities got to play dress up, much to the amusement of everyone, in an annual fundraiser for the museum’s costume institute, with all the focus on who wore what? Zzzzzzzzzz…

Every year there’s a theme and this year it was ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination‘, which was seemingly the perfect fashion climate to indulge in some overall blasphemy, mocking god and as well as catholicism, or were they? Well, the outfits were no doubt, not always easy on the eye, and there were some real reminders of just why the whole celebrity sect, could be set up for some ridicule by onlookers, but all in all, weren’t the dresses great? Some of them definitely were, whilst others definitely were not. Fire the stylist!

Now let’s see some of the best and the worst of the Met Gala 2018, as designer gowns and the celebrities wearing them, both stunned, shocked and even made us laugh.

Starting off with Cardi B, the celebrity newbie, wearing something resembling the halo of the Virgin Mary perhaps, and if there ever was a prime example of the modern-day peacock dress, then this would most definitely be it. Plus, who’s next to her?

Katy Perry seemingly went as the fallen angel from heaven, which she truly is in her spare time, with an amazing mini dress with big wings by Versace. Perhaps a hint or homage to the Satanic overlord that she usually looks up to.

Everyone’s favourite mediocre left wing actor, George Clooney, who advocates for refugees, yet sells his Lake Como mansion and moves away from England once the refugees arrive, because it just isn’t safe anymore, showed up with his wife, wearing a dress and pants, which definitely turned some heads. It’s usually one or the other, but Amal Clooney had both on the night.

Rihanna took inspiration from the Pope and with this intricate outfit from Maison Margiela by John Galliano, there was definitely something haunting about the look, just like there’s something haunting and very creepy about the Pope.

Kim Kardashian wore Versace and kept it simple, only with a couple of crosses in the gold sequins, and with more of a Elizabeth Taylor on Cleopatra look in the make-up department.

Jennifer Lopez also stunned in her Balmain gown, showing why she just always looks good, no matter where she goes, or what she wears.

A rare appearance from the Olsen Twins, who went as a couple of witches or druids, can be seen here attending the Met Gala last night.

Sarah Jessica Parker aka Carrie Bradshaw went in a royal looking gown, complete with a temple on her head, which definitely drew the fashion plaudits on the night, whilst the rest of us wondered what on Earth is she wearing.

Madonna, not to be outdone, took a page out of the funeral handbook and wore black, with a royal-esque crown concoction fraught with crosses, showing off which side that she’s really on, the dark side. Surely, Satan got a kick out of this one?!

Gisele Bündchen and husband, Tom Brady, showed up and played it safe, with Gisele keeping it simple and elegant, whilst Tom Brady must’ve become inspired by Liberace judging by the gold design on his blazer.

Miley Cyrus didn’t go wrong with her long black dress, but added some crosses as earrings, and frankly, it’s better to see Miley in this way, rather than half clothed, as in much of her past career as a singer.

Blake Lively may just have stolen the evening, with her exuberant dress, keeping it classy though, with a maroon colour, making you think that this was surely a royal gown.

Zendaya went as Joan of Arc, or took some inspiration from the female warrior, and surely this look was an undoubted winner of the evening, which drew the fashion plaudits and which made many others look underdressed.

Bella Hadid also looked the part, with a black dress, complete with gloves and her hair kept up, making her look like an evil Catholic princess from the era of the Spanish Inquisition.

Anne Hathaway wore a red gown, and she seemingly had some branches coming out of her hair, which most definitely wasn’t the winning look of the evening.

Well, there you have some of the best and the some of the worst outfits of the Met Gala 2018, all in one piece. We have to admit that Rihanna looked quite ridiculous dressed up as the Pope, whilst Cardi B also looked like she was ready for her star appearance in an upcoming Pantomime. As for Sarah Jessica Parker, she definitely wouldn’t have looked out of place in some Broadway production. So, who wore it well and who didn’t? Tell us in the comments section down below.
